YES! This Spring, there is a special election for the 7th Congressional District, formerly Congressman Elijah Cummings' seat.
Due to COVID19, the 7th Congressional District Election is VOTE BY MAIL.
Ballots for the mail in voting will have postage paid on them so the voter does not have to pay that cost.
The vote by mail deadline is April 28, 2020.
The first round of ballots will be sent out by the mailing house on March 31, 2020.
The second round of ballots will be sent out by the mailing house on April 13, 2020.
Once a voter mails in his or her voted ballot they cannot change their mind or get a second ballot.
State law requires that the Governor schedule a special election to fill a vacancy in the U.S. House of Representatives. On October 28, 2019, the Governor issued a proclamation for the elections to fill the vacancy created by Congressman Elijah Cummings’ death.
